Important Message:

Through an overnight dream, the Lord showed me something amazing but important for us to note at all times…

I had a dream which involved a few people being somewhere and even though they had NO intention to steal, the fact that they were rushing meant that they made a bad decision, which then resulted in them being interrogated by the police.

But the one person who chose not to join them in making the mistake, was left alone to go freely.

Please be mindful,

In your good intention to do things, you have to be very careful in whatever you actually do

To avoid any police embarrassment or trouble.

In decision-making we have to be very conscious and careful

Please do not join anyone in doing anything that is not right.

Do not do anything that your Spirit feels unsettled or uncomfortable with.

Listen to the Spirit of God in you, always ask for the wisdom and Direction of God, and obey His instruction to resist doing what the other people are persuading you to do, no matter how simple/insignificant they make it seem.

Please pray that you will not be wrongly influenced, you will not be at the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing

Pray that God will always single you out and give you victory over every trap the enemy has set

in Jesus’ Mighty Name

Amen 🙏🏾

Be led by the Holy Spirit, have a blessed week

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing

God Bless you

Submit your Flesh

The excuse of ‘I’m human’, is one that definitely gets overused in our society of believers.

Many of us use it to justify our actions when we’ve fallen short, or sometimes to actually convince ourselves that we can go ahead with doing something that we know isn’t right.

But here’s the thing, if only we would cultivate and nurture a good standard of self-control and self-discipline, as the bible instructs (Titus 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23), we would find ourselves resorting to this statement less and less…

I aim to challenge you with a few things today, in the hope of you developing a renewed conviction about some of the things you’ve allowed yourself to slack with…

You see, the bible teaches us to flee from sin, (1 Timothy 6:3-11), yet so many of us walk side by side with it.
Where we’re mingling and mixing with the things that lead us astray, some of us will find that rather than becoming more spiritually inclined, we’re becoming more accustomed to the ways of the world, and in fact becoming more comfortable with engaging in practices/activities/habits that we ought to really detest as children of God!

That’s why this message today reminds and instructs you to always
Submit your flesh to the Spirit of God in you!

It is an absolute MUST to do this.

“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?
Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
[Romans 6:1-4]

When we make the decision to accept Christ and walk with Him, one of the first things we establish is that our old self has died, and our new being is alive in Christ, as the above scripture says. We are then encouraged to walk in the light of Christ, and to actively rid ourselves of all the worldly things we used to do when we didn’t know Him, in order to fully pursue this new life and new glory with Him.

But friend, these days your lines are blurred.
You’re speaking Jesus but you aren’t living Him.
You’re portraying Jesus but your heart isn’t really here for Him, fully…

So what’s changed?

Why does it seem like you’re caring less and less about the implications of your decisions?
Why does it seem like you’ve lowered your standard of how much you want to obey God?
Why does it seem like you’ve lost focus?

You see, the word of God is intentional, and therefore every word is for a reason, so when it says to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12), it’s because being a follower of Christ is not at all a passive decision, but rather an active, alive and vibrant choice to walk in His way. This means therefore that if we don’t culture, grow, nurture, and pay attention to our spirit, then indeed we will so easily become entangled in sin (as Hebrews 12:1 puts it).

So for many of us, over time, our lax attitude towards our journey with Christ has allowed the old self to creep back into our environments and slowly infiltrate our minds and therefore our behaviours, beliefs, and attitudes.
What this means is that we’ve become more ‘okay’ with lying, theft, sexual immorality, drunkenness, idolatry, selfishness and all the other things that we were initially so eager to put behind us when we first got saved.

For some of us, we get tired.
Our enthusiasm runs out.
Our interest and ability to be ‘bothered’ with the things of God, and honouring God, decreases, and so we find ourselves drifting further and further away from the will of God and His purpose for us.
In some cases, what’s surprising is that actually some of us are still able to look ‘Jesus-good’ externally, but deep down in our hearts, we couldn’t be any further away from true worship and surrenderance to the heart and will of God.

If I’m talking to you, and this message is for you in any way, and you’re ready to be real, I’m saying let’s go back to basics
Yes, I’m calling you out, and I’m hopefully making you uncomfortable with where you are in your walk with Christ right now, but understand that I’m not judging you – instead, I’m simply saying don’t spend another second compromising your faith or relationship with God! Rather, let’s return to that very fundamental aspect of giving our lives to Christ, and turning our lives around;

“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.”
[Romans 6:6-7]

“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.”
[Galatians 5:24]

You are not a slave to sin.
Sin is no longer your master.
Sin no longer controls you.
Sin no longer has a hold or any power over you…

I’m emphasising this point, because the weakening of sin’s power, by our death and resurrection in Christ Jesus, is such a key element to remember from today’s message.
When we stray away from the will of God, we often forget this truth because we are so immersed in the ways of the world.
Therefore sin begins to look convenient. And in this slippery area of dabbling, the devil capitalises on our state of mind and tries to trick us into believing that sin holds us ransom again as it once did, that it’s too hard to let go of the wrong habits, and that sin has defeated us…

But these are all LIES!

You are no longer a slave to sin. (I had to say it one more time!)

And you must rise with this strength daily, in order to conquer every wayward desire of the flesh.
You must understand from this truth, that the Spirit of Christ Jesus, who conquered death and destroyed all power of sin – that Spirit in You, is greater and more powerful than your flesh.
Your Spirit has authority over your flesh!

Therefore you ought to train your flesh to pipe down.
You ought to tell your flesh ‘not today, not ever, you’re not getting your way’.
You ought to submit your flesh to the will of God daily; your thoughts, words and actions – and begin to build up a resilience against any desire to engage in sinful natures (1 Peter 4:1-2).

I’ll finish by sharing something Paul said in the bible;

“I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”
[1 Corinthians 9:27]

Another translation says;

“No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (NIV)

Let us develop the understanding that we too have the authority, the courage, the power and the tools of the spirit, to discipline ourselves, discipline our bodies, and discipline our flesh, in order to ensure that we do what we are meant to be doing, and that we run our race with purpose and perseverance to win!

Further Scriptures to read and pray with daily:
Overcoming tiredness – Galatians 6:7-9
Overcoming sin – Romans 6:11-14, Titus 2:12, Ephesians 4:22-23, Romans 12:1-2
Growing in the Spirit – John 3:30 (a crucial daily declaration)

God Bless you

Prayer: Wrapped in Perfect Love

Despite being told to listen to the song many months ago, I only listened to it yesterday after being told that I’d be singing it as part of my church choir.

Listened to it… Absolutely Loved it…

And then I understood why the friend who initially recommended it to me said she always gets emotional when she hears it.

The song is called Reckless Love by Cory Asbury – Bethel Music
and I’d love for you to listen to it, just click the link above.
I’ve also put another link here, for the version by One Voice (at the beginning of a sermon video), which is the first one I listened to and loved!

I want to pray for us with the message of this song…

A lot of us have forgotten how  B I G  and how permanent God’s love is.
We’ve forgotten what God’s love means.
We’ve forgotten that we even have God’s love.

Today I’m reminding you that you are absolutely wrapped in the love of God, and you MUST remind yourself of this fact Every. Single. Day.

The part of the song that touched me most, is when it said;

‘It Leaves the ninety-nine…’

When Jesus tells this parable in Luke 15:3-7 (please read), He explains to us that heaven truly rejoices over a lost soul that comes home.
He is therefore telling you that He personally seeks you out, to bring you up and out of whatever issue you’re in, and bring you into the perfect will of God.

‘Leaves the 99’ tells me, that He’s so focussed on each and every one of us making it to the kingdom of God, that He won’t settle for one short… (Matthew 18:10-14)
He won’t leave you behind, or give up on you, despite the multitude that may already be doing their thing and pleasing Him – He steps out specifically for you, to come and find you, and draw you in to Him.

This is the Love of God.

A Love that doesn’t get fed up of loving us, will never stop being on our side and no matter how undeserving you feel of it, it will always be there, wrapped right around you (Romans 8:38-39) – it just takes you to open up your heart and let it in!

As you listen to the song, I ask that you pay close attention to each word, as it emphasises the energy with which God’s Perfect Love Pursues you.

For those of you who just can’t fathom WHY His perfect love would chase after you – remember what Jesus said in the parable mentioned above, and go into more scripture to see it yourself (1 John 4:9-10, Romans 5:8); that even in your imperfection, God loves you and God wants you…

And with that I pray,

Father,

Help each and every one of Your children to receive and embrace Your love this week, and always.
Help us to lay aside our carnal knowledge and opinions of the type of person that deserves to be loved by You, and let us accept wholeheartedly that Your Perfect Love is just for us, even in our imperfection.
Help us to truly believe in the power of Your Love, and become strengthened by it in every way possible.
Help us to no longer run away from Your Love, but rather let us rest in it, be lost in it, and be completely wrapped in it!
We thank You for Jesus Your son, We thank You for Your unconditional, unending Love, and we ask that never again will we forget that we have it.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

A Prayer for your Week: 23rd-29th Oct 2017

Getting the right words down, in the right order, to mean the right thing, in the perfect way, definitely, takes time.
Which is why when bogged down with uni work, or just so many other things, you’ll find that there won’t be a post even though you expect one – why, because I can’t ever give you any old rubbish, it truly has to be God’s Untainted Word.

However I said somewhere in the welcome pages that this whole platform is definitely bigger than just me, therefore I know that being ‘busy’, is never acceptable as a reason to not keep up with the work of this ministry.

Therefore today God gave me this concept of sending you guys a prayer and best wishes from the bottom of my heart during these ‘busy’ times (Merciful King, Love hearts to Him), in order to ensure the consistency of posts you all deserve, and still give you something REAL.

So Let’s pray for our week;

Strength

Father, I pray for each of us to realise that we need not ask You for strength anymore because we already have it!
Therefore we ask for the ability to activate and believe in Your strength that already lies within us.
We thank You for making us strong;
Strong enough to get through the painful situation,
Strong enough to forgive wrongs,
Strong enough to help others,
Strong enough to keep going!
We thank You that Your strength in us shall allow us to overcome every existing weakness, and enable us to conquer in Jesus’ Mighty name.

Verse to prophesy: Philippians 4:13

Courage

Courage for the big things… Courage for the small things…
Father, we thank You for the courage You have placed in us.
You instruct us to be BOLD and Courageous in Deuteronomy 31:6, and that’s exactly what we’re going to be in this week!
Courage to stand up for others,
Courage to stand up for ourselves,
Courage to stand uprightly for Christ…
Father, we ask that You will give us the opportunity in this week to exhibit this courage and boldness, and let it bring glory and honour to Your name, in Jesus’ name.

Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.”
[James 1:5]

Wisdom to make a decision, and not regret it immediately after because it’s the wrong one – Father we thank You for and ACTIVATE, the wisdom You have given us.
Wisdom to make the right decisions,
Wisdom to act in the appropriate way in response to scenarios,
Wisdom to deal appropriately, and lovingly with our peers in all areas of our lives…
We thank You because the wisdom You have given us, will cause us to stand out this week in one way or another.
Our wisdom-driven behaviours, mannerisms, and choices will cause someone to ask about the Jesus in us! And will cause them to come to know Him, in Jesus’ name.

In all things,

We pray that we will walk in love, walk in Christ, and be a living testimony of His Gospel.
May this week be like none other; filled with surprises, blessings and opportunities to share Christ.

All in Jesus’ Perfect name we pray,
Amen.

Go out and smash this week! 🙂

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

I’m Not Finished Yet!

“I’m not finished yet!”

This ought to be our bold affirmation when we find that situations have worked ‘against us’ or ‘haven’t happened in our favour’

“I’m. Not. Finished. Yet!”

So the other day my pastor called me over randomly and asked how I was doing, and by my facial expressions and body language you could tell I wasn’t ‘me’.
So I explained that I was feeling a little under the weather etc, a little tired etc, and somewhere in that conversation, we got to a point where, as pastors do, he began encouraging me.

Here’s a bit of the dialogue;

“When things don’t go as planned, don’t beat yourself up.”

How many of us need that reminder today?

How many of us sit and think over and over again about what went wrong, and dwell in the regret of not doing things differently?

Instead of reflecting on what has transpired and figuring out ways to move forward, we sit moping around with an attitude of ‘if only’.
We sit down in the dumps with a downhearted and let-down spirit, and rather than channel the thoughts we have regarding all the things we didn’t do, into constructive criticism for ourselves, we simply use all those faults and mistakes that we’ve acknowledged, to knock ourselves further and further into the ground.
We don’t realise it, but the only thing we’re doing at this point is paralysing and distracting ourselves from making our next move!

The bible says this;

“Being cheerful keeps you healthy. It is slow death to be gloomy all the time.”
[Proverbs 17:22]

Another translation reads;

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Now understand this, not only does this verse refer to our physical health, but it is speaking to the health of all the different aspects of our lives too!
Our finances, our relationships, our careers, our education – whatever it is that didn’t go according to your plan that is causing you to think negatively – please look at this scripture and understand that your positivity, your joy and your confidence in the strength you have in the Lord, is what can revive and turn that situation around!
Your attitude has the potential to bring  L I F E  back into something that you deemed as being ‘all over’.

So anyway, this chat with pastor continues; he goes on to say,

“In fact, we have to be very careful that we don’t fall into a habit/cycle of self-pity; feeling sorry for ourselves.”

And at this point, in my head I’m like ‘Yooooo pastor, I’m not actually going through anything sour right now, like I’m good!’ (Thank You Jesus), but at the same time I reflected back to my attitude and reaction to certain circumstances I had experienced in the past, and in that moment I decided never to do the whole self-pity schpiel again!

Why are you feeling sorry for yourself?

No, please, tell me why?!

We do it to make ourselves feel better about it all.
We figure that when we really really channel and fully assume that role of ‘the victim’, that it will allow us to feel better about the fact that the misfortune has had its way.

Do you know what, in some cases, maybe you actually were a ‘victim’, and maybe you actually did suffer from an extremely traumatising experience – I’m not taking that away from you, or daring to undermine your emotions.
I don’t think anyone has a right to say you’re ‘assuming a role’, because, in the technicalities of the situation, you were the ‘victim’ – by definition, you were the individual who was harmed by the other party, and made to feel helpless and passive – be it an actual person or an issue.

But that’s just technically speaking yeah, so let’s get to scripturally speaking…

Yes, you faced misfortune or ill-treatment, however no, ‘victim’ is not your name! Because the word of God says,

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
[Romans 8:37]

You – are more than a Conqueror!
Yep, I personally think Conqueror suits you better.

Another translation reads,

“No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!”

You – have  C O M P L E T E  victory! Because Christ loves you, is for you, and will ALWAYS be for you! (Please read Romans 8:31-39).

Therefore I plead with you to stop the self-pity, stop thinking ‘why me?’, stop asking what you did, or who you offended for such a bad thing to happen to you, and understand that what has happened to you has not been designed to break you!
It’s simply part of your story, to make the victory sweeter and to bring greater glory and honour and exaltation to the name of God.

So then pastor left me with this, and that’s why it’s the title of this post, he said,

“You see when things happen to us in life, you have to tell that thing,
‘Oh no, I’m not finished yet!‘

Whatever has confronted me and tried to bring me down has not seen the last of me.
I will rise above it and conquer it!” ~ Pastor Stephen Akinmosa.

I’m demanding that you snatch these words as your own and apply it when you need it!
Tell those nasty situations that yes, they tried hard, but they didn’t succeed!
Laugh in the face of that circumstance, flick your hair (if you have any) and with an ample amount of sass, tell it that “I [insert name here], am Not. Finished. Yet!”

Mate, I’m just getting started!

Keep the Faith Don’t Stop Believing
Keep Being Selfless #SelflessWeek #SelflessAlways
Keep Praying for our youth #MoreThan100PeoplePraying
And as always,
May God Richly Bless you and yours.

P.s. Yep, this is definitely a PFP 🙂

Dare to be Different…

You have no business blending in!

This is what the word of God says about you;

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
[Matthew 5:14].

If the bible tells you that you cannot be hidden, then please tell me why you spend so much time ‘fitting in’?

Some of us have come to believe that the best way to get through life is to follow the norms and just do what everyone else is doing.
So even though our light is there, we ourselves have covered it up by failing to embrace the differences in us that we actually ought to use to proclaim Christ and make Him known to others.

What I’m getting at, is the fact that as children of the Most High, we haven’t been called to look and live like everyone else;

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
[1 Peter 2:9]

Therefore, we need to start getting comfortable with standing out, standing proud, and in some cases, standing alone

I get it, it’s good and fun and nicer to have company as we work our way through this journey of life, but let’s be reminded that pleasing God is much more important. And in fact, when we wholeheartedly live to honour and stand for Him, He provides us with peace and boldness to do so!

Now let’s make sense of the title of this post…

Daring to be Different isn’t about making a scene.

It isn’t about seeking attention or seeking to be noticed and praised by others, but rather it’s about plucking up that courage to step away from the things that displease God, even if it’s the most popular trend, or the ‘in thing’ according to the rest of the world.
It’s about loving God enough to let go of our fleshly desires and the worldly pleasures that we’ve become used to, and focus our hearts on the things above.

“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
[Romans 12:2]

This verse is one that is popularly quoted amongst believers and I want us to pay attention to the faithfulness of God in this verse…

It tells us that God does the transforming. And I believe we ought to find comfort in the fact that this means that He doesn’t leave us to figure it out on our own, or struggle with the temptation that comes with trying to get rid of our old ways.
This verse tells us that if we can shift our focus away from the world and sin, and unto God, then He will work in us and renew our minds.
He Himself will teach our hearts what His ways are; enabling us to develop a better understanding of how to live for Him.

Now we’ve spoken before about standing out and standing for God, when we looked at the story of Daniel, in the post titled ‘Can they See you?’

Daniel stood out in quite a bold and outward way, and in some cases, we will need to do this in order for us to show others who our God is.
But whilst looking at this topic further, what God showed me is that sometimes our ‘standing out’ needs to be in terms of the smaller things, the inside things, and the intimate things…

Daring to be Different transcends all the way into our private lives and the things we do in secret that no one else (but God) sees…

Maybe we skip paying our train fare.
Maybe we’re engaging in fraudulent activities.
Maybe we stream music and movies illegally online.
Maybe we’re engaging in sexual intimacy in our pre-marital relationships.

The things that we could never tell anyone openly, but we know each time we do it, we get an itch about it being wrong.
Yes friend, God is asking us to take the right Stand for these things too, even if it means standing alone.
In fact, it’s with some of these smaller and more intimate things that we may feel like we’re losing out or missing out more, initially.
These ‘behind closed doors’ things that have become so deeply embedded into our lives may actually be the ones that hurt to give up most.
But over time we’ll see that the more God transforms our minds and our beliefs, the more we’ll understand and embrace the beauty of doing what is right and pleasing in His sight.
The more we’ll appreciate the pain it took to stop these things and Stand for God in the first place.

Please understand that I’m not calling you out, but I want us to be convicted today by the Holy Spirit and the word of God;

“My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;”
[Proverbs 1:15]

“Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners takes
or sit in the company of mockers,”
[Psalm 1:1]

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evildoers.
Avoid it, do not travel on it;
turn from it and go on your way.
[Proverbs 4:14-15]

Some of us have been hearing that ‘Stop it’, for so long, but have allowed ourselves to become okay with ignoring God’s voice.
Let today be the day that you take the BOLD step to make the change.

I want us to chase God and chase His ways.
Crave God and crave His ways.
See sin, despise sin, and choose to Stand for a True and Living Christ.

Understand this, we aren’t doing it to prove that we’re better than anyone else, but it’s simply to show Jesus that He means everything to us and that we are preparing our hearts and our lives for His second coming.

You will see, that your Stand will inspire, encourage and push others to draw nearer to God, and even cause unbelievers to want to know Him.
When people see a Difference in our attitudes towards life, our reactions and our mannerisms, one day they’ll be forced to enquire about this Jesus that we choose to honour.

I’ll end by telling us this –

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.”
[Matthew 5:13]

We have a responsibility to season this world with Christ – let us Dare to be Different, Confident and Firm in the things of Christ, and trust that the world will follow us and move towards the things of God too!

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Not Some… ALL

The thing about the bible is, the words in it do not lie.
Therefore when we see a sentence in there, or when we see a phrase in there, we have to take it for what it says.

How many of us are familiar with the Philippians 4:13 verse?
The one that tells us we can do all things through the strength we have in Christ Jesus.
How many of us believe it? (Many of us will say ‘me’.)

Okay, now how many of us truly believe and live by it?

You see, it’s one thing to believe that something is true, but it’s another thing to actually take on that truth and embed it into your own life.

All things, means All things.

It doesn’t mean a quarter, or a third, or two thirds or even 99%, but All things, means ALL…Things…

That means when you’re thinking of quitting because man, or even your own flesh has qualified you as unable to fulfil that task – you need to step up and realise that Christ is with you in ALL things, and you can and will do it – just apply yourself.

When your teachers/professors tell you that ‘Most students fail at this hurdle, hardly any students make that jump successfully…’ – you need to wear the garment of ALL things being possible through Jesus, and let them know there’s a Greater Being in you, that drives and enables you.

When your bosses say you can’t do it because of your background, or your experience, or your qualifications – you need to tap into that favour and grace from Christ that breaks protocol on your behalf and places ALL things within your reach.

Even when your family, who most people would argue are the ones who know you best – yes friend, even when they, in the deepest love for you, and through the desire of wanting to protect you from disappointment – even when they tell you that the venture is no good, or it’s too hard for you –  you need to strap up your ALL things footwear and get trekking, because Christ is going to take you there; to that desired goal and even further!

My reminder for you today is this,
When we extract verses from the word of God, let’s take them in their wholeness.

Just in the same way that we know we shouldn’t follow laws half-heartedly, or ‘pick and choose’ which commandments we want to follow, we also shouldn’t weaken verses of encouragement and empowerment, but rather, take them as FULLY as they come.

If Christ was only capable of enabling us 50% of the time, in 50% of the tasks, then the bible would tell us that!

100% UW

But as it says ALL things, it assures us of Him being 100 percent!
Therefore I encourage you to,
1. Put ALL your faith in His strength that lies in you.
And 2. Be bold to step forward and know that you truly are a conqueror, a victor and a success in EVERY single thing you lay your hands upon.

Now how’s that for a word to start your Wednesday morning?!

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you
