Point It Out

Let’s read;

“If your brother or sister sins,
go and point out their fault,
just between the two of you.
If they listen to you, you have won them over.”

[Matthew 18:15]

‘Just between the two of you’………
Now the ellipsis here is extra long, because I’m trying to emphasise what that line says.

When we go to correct, our brother or sister, the bible doesn’t say ‘make a spectacle out of it’.
It doesn’t say, ‘talk about it with Jason and Jenny’. It doesn’t say ‘change the way you perceive them’.
And it doesn’t say ‘judge them and never speak to them again’.

So why then do we find ourselves doing all these things (plus much more, sometimes)?

Why is it that many of us find joy and excitement in further tearing down a brother or sister when they fall?
Why is it that we derive pleasure in letting the whole world know that Anna made a mistake?

Friend, if the bible tells us something, let’s do what it says, and lay aside all other things that our flesh wrongly leads us to do instead.

So, when we see a brother or sister doing something wrong, let us approach the situation in the way that the word of God tells us to – call them to the side, let it be only the two of you, and let them know their fault.
(When we read further in this passage, we’ll see that, yes, indeed, others may need to get involved if they don’t take to correction, however let’s do it this private way first.
There’s a reason why it’s written in this order, right?)

Now let’s go back a little (forgive me for starting the expansion of this bible verse in the middle, but that part just stood out to me so much!)

So,
‘Go and point out their fault’.

When your brother or sister does something wrong, the bible says to point out their fault – let them know wrong is wrong.

This part of the verse actually speaks to each of us in two ways.

Number ONE: We have a role to play in being the pointer-outers…
Now in this day and age, we seem to have a culture of being too careful.
We don’t want to tread on anyone’s toes, so we don’t say anything about things that we know go against the word of God, but look, the bible tells us to Point. It. Out…
We need to forget ‘careful’, and start fulfilling God’s word more, and stop allowing our brothers and sisters to walk in the path of destruction!

(Side note: Don’t get it wrong, this doesn’t mean point out every single thing you deem is a problem, because that actually becomes based on your own opinion.
There’s also this whole thing about the appropriateness of certain things being dealt with by you and whether you have a relationship with that person or not, but this is where you pray and ask God to show you clearly, if you should be the one to speak to them, and how).

Many of us, in various situations are beginning to take the word of God that says ‘do not judge’ out of context, and we have twisted it to a point where we are no longer comfortable with saying anything about anything – just to be safe…

We all know when something is point blank, obviously wrong, and the bible is telling us to point this out. Why? Because we have a duty to help that person realise that it isn’t something that edifies the name of God.
In doing so, we help them to walk in the light, and turn away from what could lead them downhill.

Let’s rid ourselves of the attitude that turns a blind eye, because ‘it’s not me so it doesn’t concern me’, or the attitude that says, ‘let them do them, and let me stay in my lane’.
The bible says that heaven rejoices over a sinner who repents (Luke 15:7, 10), therefore this should tell us how important it is to correct one another appropriately, and bring each other away from sin.
Friends, let us realise that we have a responsibility to ensure the correct functioning and uprightness of the body of Christ at all times.
We therefore have to pluck up the courage to follow the prodding of the Holy Spirit when He is telling us to call our brother or sister aside to put them right. As mentioned in the side note, ask God if you’re the right person for the task, and then ask Him what to say, and how to say it, but please make sure you do it.

Number TWO: We can expect; if we are the ones doing something wrong; to be told that what we are doing is wrong! – We can expect to be corrected.
Though we are striving for it, not one of us is perfect and therefore not one of us is above correction.
So, if this word of God says that your brother or sister ought to point out your fault, then friend you need to have a humble heart to receive that word from them.
Don’t be stand-off-ish, and don’t have the attitude that no-one has a right to tell you of your faults. Rather, open your heart and ears, seek the right advice and direction, and be ‘won over’, as the bible describes is the goal of this in the first place.

“Listen to advice and accept discipline,
    and at the end you will be counted among the wise.”
[Proverbs 19:20]

“If you listen to constructive criticism,
    you will be at home among the wise.

If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself;
    but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.”
[Proverbs 15:31-32]

These two passages from Proverbs teach us both as a corrector, and receiver of correction, that it must be done in a constructive manner, and that an end result, is growth in wisdom and understanding. Therefore, let us not despise the love that comes from a brother or sister telling us when we are doing something wrong.

The bottom line is this; none of us would know what is and isn’t wrong, if we aren’t somehow informed, therefore in love, with compassion, and with a genuine heart to propel the gospel, let us do what the word of God instructs us to do – let us help one another, up, and away from sin.
Let us provide light and wisdom for one another, and let us enhance each other’s walk by speaking when we need to speak, following the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”.
[Romans 12:12]

New Week?

We’re gonna ‘Romans 12:12’ our way through it!

Step 1: Say to yourself; ‘I will be joyful in hope!’

To hope is to have a feeling of expectation and great desire for a particular thing to happen.
To hope is also to trust.

Friends, to be able to hope is amazing, but because of how bleak things look now, some of us feel like there’s no point….
I’ll tell you, hope is beautiful and it keeps us going, because it means we aren’t giving up, and we trust for a better tomorrow.

Say, believe, and mean these things:

In this new week, I will sit confidently with happiness that greater is coming.

I will express my great pleasure in the fact that I know, it is not over concerning whatever situation I am praying about.

I will be joyful in the hope that never dies as long as I have Christ Jesus.

I will be joyful in the hope I have in the fact that as long as I am living, there is still a chance, there is still a possibility, and God will surely make a way.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
[Romans 15:13]

Step 2: Say to yourself; ‘I will be patient in affliction!’

Now this prayer takes maturity and true trust in God.
I say this because a lot of the time, we want it ‘now’ – We pray today and we want the ‘yes’ tomorrow (or even that same day!)

Let’s learn to endure our times of pain, and look to God in hope and faith, trusting that He knows what He has purposed it for, and that we will come out refined.

Say, believe, and mean these things:

I will be patient in affliction and I will learn the lesson that it brings.

I will be patient in affliction and trust God regardless of what anyone says – I will listen to His directions, obey His instructions and hold on to His promises.

I will be patient in affliction and turn to no alternative false solutions – I will wait on God.

“But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
[Isaiah 40:31]

Step 3: Say to yourself; ‘I will be faithful in prayer!’

Some of us become consumed by a situation and stop praying.
Some of us don’t remember God when everything is rosy…

Today, we’re changing our attitude to prayer…

Say, believe, and mean these things:

I will pray without ceasing – 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

I’ll keep thanking God.

I’ll keep speaking to God.

I’ll keep up a constant conversation with Him because it’s in Him alone that I rest, and put my trust – (Proverbs 3:5-6).

I’ll keep consulting Him before my every move, because I know He knows best and has my best interests at heart – (Jeremiah 29:11).

So friends, here it is again…

Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”.

Let’s read it, take it in, believe it, and declare it;

We will be Joyful in every Hope we have in Christ,

We will be Patient in Affliction because we serve a Living and Loyal God that won’t leave us hanging,

We will be Faithful in Prayer – because why wouldn’t we want to speak to our Amazing Father daily?

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Be An Example

Let’s read;

“And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.”
[Titus 2:7-8]

‘Be an Example’…

That’s God’s simple message to us with this passage. (Also read all of Titus 2).
Every now and then, we can get caught up in our own desires and therefore find ourselves living for our own pleasure.
This can mean that certain actions and decisions we make, may fall out of God’s will.
Today God is reminding you to Be an Example.
Be someone who not just speaks the gospel, but exudes it.
Be someone who the word of God isn’t just words to, but the word of God is life, and it’s apparent in your life.
The bible teaches us to not just be hearers of the word, but also doers of the word of God (James 1:22).
Be someone who will read it, digest and make personal meaning of it, and then LIVE it.
God wants you to redirect your plans and thoughts towards Him, and return to living your life for Him, in order for you to live a wholesome life, but also for you to encourage and inspire those watching
We must never forget that people are watching – whether it’s to criticise us, or actually to learn from, and emulate us, people are, and always be watching.
Therefore, do the body and name of Christ justice, by living out the word of God genuinely…
The verse says ‘Let everything reflect integrity and seriousness of your teaching’.
As disciples of Christ, one of our biggest roles is to spread the gospel and share the word.
But how many of us can truly say our actions match our words?
We all know that it’s one thing to say something, but it’s a whole new level to actually display it with what we do.
Therefore this verse is encouraging us to be real to the word of God and truly be convicted by it.
This means not just doing things for the sake of it, but actually appreciating and believing in what we read, and being transformed by it, to a point where it is evident in our behaviour and mannerisms.
I’ll end by saying this;
Don’t feel pressured or overwhelmed by the responsibility to be a Light to the world (Matthew 5:14), but just ask for His All-Sufficient Grace to enable you, and to keep your Light shining brightly all the days of your life.
Remember that our greatest commandments are to Love God and Love people (Matthew 22:36-40), therefore this means if we are led by Love in all we do, doing the right thing, and living the right way won’t be as difficult as we may anticpate.
Be an Example;
A Gorgeous, Fun, Unique One!
Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Beliveing,
God Bless you.

‘Do you know who my God is?!’

Short and Sweet tonight;

We’re walking into a new week, one that we’ve never treaded before and for some of us, big things await us.
Some of us are looking forward to hearing good news or starting something new, whilst others may be dreading the fact that they’re stepping back into an environment, at work or school, that isn’t necessarily a happy place for them.

Some of us are walking into this week with our baggage from last week, even last month, and to be honest, we don’t really know how we are going to do it!

I want you you to do this;
Whatever the issue/situation/problem is – speak to it directly and tell it,
‘You won’t consume me!’

It’s so easy to forget who we are and more importantly, who our God is, when we’re faced with such challenging conflicts and dilemmas.

Today I want you remember the fact that you can, and you must, tell your problem, about your Father!

Yes! It’s a different dynamic this time.
Usually, we’re reporting every bother and every worry to our Father, but today I am telling you to stand up to whatever situation appears to be bullying your peace, bullying your joy, bullying any area of your life, and begin to tell it about how Big your God is.

The bible says that the mountains melt, and quake before Almighty God (Micah 1:4, Nahum 1:5), therefore, rather than give our mountains so much respect – by hiding, ducking, and swerving from them, we ought to stand boldly before them and begin to describe the type of God we serve;
Powerful, Almighty, Eternal, Immortal, Strong Tower – and let those mountains begin to shudder and fall before our eyes.

In that Nahum verse, it also says that the earth TREMBLES at the presence of God!
Our problems will also TREMBLE at the mere sound of us describing our God;
A God who parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14),
A God who is UNCREATED, and created the heavens and the earth, and all things in between, in only 6 days (Genesis 1:1Genesis 2:1-2)!

Friend I need you to let these issues in your life know that they are absolutely NOTHING, and they are POWERLESS over your joy and your destiny, because you serve a Living God, whose Love and Glory overrides anything that the enemy wants to bring.

In the atmosphere of prayer, look at these problems face-to-face, and with the utterance from the Holy Spirit, intimidate and shut down each and every one of them!

Let us get into the habit of REFUSING for situations to have their way – tell them ‘No you won’t…!’, and let us maintain confidence in the protection that God assures us of, in Psalm 91 (please have a read).

My God is Strong and Mighty, Ever-Faithful, Never sleeps,
What can you say about yours?

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

‘Eyes on Me’

Let’s read;

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. ”
[Colossians 3:1-4]

Where is your focus?

Are you looking to your left?
Are you looking to your right?
Are you looking behind, in front, diagonally?

Where are your eyes set? And on what are they set?

The bible tells us, that we who have been raised, re-birthed, and renewed in Christ should place our eyes on Him.
It tells us to set our eyes, our minds, our hearts, not on things of this earth, but actually on that which lies high above.

So, what does this mean?

Well firstly, it says ‘No limits’.
Some of us think so small.
We struggle to comprehend anything beyond basic and so we live our lives in the safe zone and never push ourselves to reach our full potential.

Friend, today, if you can set your heart on Jesus, and think of the power with which He conquered death, then you’ll realise that there is so much more out there for you to accomplish, which is bigger and better than what you’re sitting and settling with now, getting complacent.
Look at Jesus and think BIG.
Look at Him and realise that through Him, you are limitless (Philippians 4:13), and so no man or woman could ever determine how far you will get in life.
Look at Him and know that you are more than just a guy or lady; you are a Royal Priesthood, and a Chosen Generation, and so the fruits of your life ought to show the Excellence and Glory of God, and give praise to God (1 Peter 2:9).

Set your heart on Jesus says, ‘Think of Him first’.
We have to remember that we will not be on earth for eternity, and there is a higher place, a more precious place and a beautiful kingdom which awaits those who love and honour God.
Setting our hearts on Jesus; thinking of Him before we speak or act, means we are striving to be more like Him, in order to ensure that we don’t miss heaven.

So it does mean that sometimes, it requires us to stop and think ‘What would Jesus do?’, and then allow the Holy Spirit to guide our next move and decision.
It means we no longer make decisions or take steps without considering the consequences or implications that they may have on our lives as a disciple of Christ.
It means we daily show Him, that His death and resurrection didn’t go to waste, and truly by His blood we’ve been redeemed and transformed.
(Remember that the word of God encourages us to renew our minds, in order to transform our ways – Romans 12:2).

All in all, when we correct our focus, we will be able to get so many more things right in our lives.
A heart that looks towards Jesus and chases after Him constantly, will be strained less, in its strive to perfection, because it is following the One who can truly lead us to the Father.
When Jesus died on the cross, He purchased our salvation.
Meaning, He created the passage for us to not be condemned to eternal fire when we die and leave this earth, but rather to ascend into an eternal paradise with God, our Maker (John 17:2).

Jesus explains; ‘No one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him’, (Matthew 11:27);
So let us not despise nor underestimate the importance of having The Christ in our lives.
Let us continuously strive to know Jesus deeply, in order for us to also get to know the Father much more deeply and intimately.
And as we set our eyes on the Son, we will surely be drawn ever-nearer to the Beautiful Father.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Take it to Jesus

Today I’ll tell you why Jesus is the best person to consult, lean on, seek advice from, and rest in confidently, whenever you’re going through ‘it’.

Let’s read;

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathise with our weaknesses, but we have One who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.”
[Hebrews 4:15]

It’s quite natural to feel a bit more confident to seek and follow advice if the person giving it has been through that thing before.

I’m sure many of us find greater comfort in consulting someone who has past experience, or appropriate knowledge about our current situation, than in someone who doesn’t.

So look at Jesus…

Though a Prince, He didn’t live in a palace whilst He was on earth.
Yes He was and is Divine, but the bible tells us that He came to suffer and serve (Matthew 20:28), and live just like one of us.
He endured the same things that we would, took on the heavy burden of sins that He had nothing to do with, but here’s why He did it – because through His physical ‘living out’ of various things, He taught us how to live;
Through His dying and rising, He conquered every problem, temptation, issue, situation and circumstance that would ever face us.

So, tell me, who do you think you should take your issues to?
Who do you think will be well-informed, and greatly knowledgeable to advise you correctly about how you should deal with x, y, and z?

J E S U S  has not only made Himself available to us as a teacher, but He’s also a Best Friend.
He’s dependable and constant, and to top it all off, He has wisdom above all of mankind.
Therefore His advice and direction supersedes anything anyone else could ever say.

Now of course, God speaks through men and women in our lives.
He’ll speak through our family, friends, pastors, etc., however what I want us to take from today is the importance of making Jesus our ultimate source of this advice.

When we take our questions to Him, when we take our confusion about how to move next, to Him, then He will surely give us peace to openly receive and follow the words of direction given by the people mentioned above.
In fact if He doesn’t speak directly to us Himself, then it’ll be Him that will direct us to go and talk to whomever, and He will inspire the words they speak to us.

Taking it to Jesus isn’t something I’m assuming is correct, but actually the bible even tells us to ‘approach the throne of grace’ in our time of need;

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
[Hebrews 4:16]

When we do this, we’ll find the answer, the guidance and the solution that we require.

Now have a look at this;

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
[1 John 5:1-5]

This passage is a reassurance of the victory we have in Jesus. So why wouldn’t we trust and run to Him?
It does also however remind us of the fact that we must have faith, and we must truly believe in Jesus.
So putting both these passages together; Hebrews 4:15-16 and 1 John 5:1-5 – here’s what I can tell you confidently;

There is Nothing; no temptation, no trial, and no sort of disappointment that can ever consume you, and there is no issue, no circumstance, and no problem that is too big for you to overcome and triumph over!
Friend, when Jesus is your King, and you have been reborn in Him, winning is embedded in your new nature!

Please always hold on to that.

Before we go, I want us to look at one really important part of the Hebrews verse;

It says that Jesus is able to empathise with us!

This tells me therefore, that Jesus really really gets it.
He has literally ‘been there before’, and so there couldn’t be a better person who fully understands what we’re going through.
This tells me that Jesus will not judge you for crying when you’re in that situation.
He won’t look at you like you’re crazy, when you express the fact that you’re upset and you’re broken.
He won’t look down on you for being tempted or desiring what you shouldn’t.

Rather, Jesus will comfort you and let you know that He feels what you feel.
He’ll hold you tight and remind you of the fact that He overcame that very situation, and so by His strength, and by the Power in His name, you most definitely will too!

No matter what it is;
Take it to Jesus; a Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God. (Isaiah 9:6)

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Trained Thoughts

In Gracious Words; Speak Life, we looked at the fact that we should be kind and constructive and helpful with the things that we say.
But only briefly in that post did we explore the fact that the bible teaches;

“Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.”
[Proverbs 4:23]

The Good News Translation of this verse reads;

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.’

Before we talk about anything else, I want us to understand that the condition of our heart is extremely important.

The heart is where God Himself searches, to know the true character of a person; to know one truly loves Him and is for Him.  (Jeremiah 17:10)
The heart therefore must be nourished with good things, because it controls absolutely everything else; ‘from it, springs the situations, the issues, the happenings of life’.

Now let’s move to the next step, before anything else, after the heart we have our thoughts, hence why different translations of this Proverbs verse, will refer to our thoughts, if it doesn’t mention the heart.

Our thoughts are crucial!

Our thoughts, are the products of our hearts, and they determine –
Our words,
Our actions,
Our beliefs,
Our morals,
And therefore essentially, they determine our character; the person we are and the way we live our lives.

So in short, our hearts ought to be clean, for our thoughts to be clean, in order for our lives to glorify God.

Prayer point:
Father,
Purify my heart, and teach me to feed it with the things that will bring forth goodness and positivity.
Help me to make the right decisions with what I watch/read, whom I surround myself  with, and what I spend my time doing, in order for me to ensure that my heart is being filled with things that will produce thoughts of life and love, not otherwise!

I once read something that said,

‘If we watch our thoughts, we won’t have to do so much watching over our mouths’.

Now that’s why we’re here today…

We already know that it is important for our words to be positive, to build, and to encourage others, but the question now is, is it a struggle for you to produce life-speaking words, or do they flow from your tongue naturally?

Do you find yourself always having to stop yourself from cursing, cussing, and tearing others down, or do you find that your mind automatically encourages you to think the best, of and for, others?

Don’t be ashamed if you relate more with the first part of these two questions – that’s exactly why we’re here, we’re going to highlight it as an issue, and we’re going to deal with it…

‘Why does it need to be dealt with?’ You may ask…

Well friend, if we could speak, act and live, just for the sake of it, then we wouldn’t have to worry about dealing the heart and our thoughts!
However here is the truth;
It’s not good enough for us to say things just because we know it’s the right thing to say.
Neither is it good enough for us to do things just because it’s the right thing to do.
The God we serve is One who looks at the intention – and the intention begins at the heart.

Therefore we need to go back to the step before the words and actions, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds, in order to  C O R R E C T  the way we think.

Jesus teaches us with what He says in Matthew 5:28 regarding adultery, that actually, sin begins with the thought. A similar concept is mentioned in James 1:15 – basically telling us that harbouring a wrong thought, will give birth to the wrong practise, which is sin.

So, Simply put – Our thoughts are powerful!

Now let’s flip it.
If the wrong thoughts have the power to birth wrong words and actions, then surely the right thoughts – the God-pleasing thoughts, will birth Christ-like words, actions and attitudes.

Friend, from today, Let’s focus on thinking right.

Let’s begin to cast out rude thoughts, negative thoughts and tempting thoughts, and immediately replace them with the better opposite.

Let’s not only work on what we’re thinking, but as mentioned above, let’s work on ensuring the heart; the root of it all; is being filled and encouraged with the things of God.

Spend more time, feasting on God’s word to know what it says.
Spend more time fellowshipping with those who already have a positive and trained mind, rather than those who are bitter and see the worst in everyone.

Be careful with the shows you watch and the social media feeds you follow – if all they represent is cheating, theft, lying and death, then these will also be the first things we think of when a situation arises.

Above all,

P R A Y.

Ask God to give you a heart that chases after Him in every single aspect of life!
Pray for God to renew your mind, transform your heart and therefore perfect your thoughts, in order for you to truly be, a person of Love, a person who is pleasant and a person who is positive in all things.

As we strive towards Christ, we have to ensure that we have it right from the very foundation – so, let us Train our hearts and our thoughts, so that from them, GOOD life will flow.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing,
God Bless you.

The Love His Death Shows

Some of you may have come across this verse during this past Holy Week;

“He will swallow up death forever,
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.”
[Isaiah 25:8]

Firstly I want to wish you a Happy, Joyous and Refreshing Easter!

And whilst you’re (hopefully) chilling out on this Bank Holiday Monday, I want you to just take in the Love of God for us, once more.

‘He will swallow up death forever…’

Let’s have a look at what it means to swallow, because for some reason, this was the word that really stood out to me;

Swallow = to take in and cause to disappear.

This verse therefore tells us that God sent Jesus to earth, to eradicate death, to cancel death and to conquer death for us, so our souls could reign with God in eternity when our bodies pass on from this world.
(We must understand that the death this speaks of isn’t in the physical, but rather the death of the soul which is much more important).

This verse in Isaiah speaks in anticipation of a coming Saviour; Jesus Christ, and what we know already, and in fact what we are celebrating at this time, is the fact that Jesus fulfilled the Word and Will of God, by dying on the cross and rising again on the third day – just as the word said He would.

“After they gathered again in Galilee, Jesus told them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.” And the disciples were filled with grief.”
[Matthew 17:22-23

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.”
[Luke 24:1-8]

Now what I want us to do is just think for a second,

‘Why me?’

The death of Jesus Christ is the most selfless act known in all time, to any and everyone, and the bible tells us that it was done just for us!

Just for you.
But why?

Who are we that God cares so much about us being with Him that He had to take such a massive decision, in order to bridge the gap between us and Him? – (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Who are we that God would send Himself, as a Man, to come to earth to suffer, serve and save?

Who are we that God would send a Blameless Lamb to be the perfect sacrifice? – Why didn’t He use someone who deserved to die? Why didn’t He use someone who was a bad person, a sinner, a mean person? We could sit here all day and begin to think about all the types of people who maybe society would deem as deserving of death (we have no right to make that judgement by the way), but the point I want us to see is actually the fact that God selected His own Son, whom was perfect and divine, clean and without sin, to die for us sinners…

This is LOVE.

Every year, at Easter time, we get an opportunity to reflect on the death and resurrection of Christ.
And every year we hear of the fact that Christ’s rising provides us with a new hope and joy in the Lord, an opportunity for a new beginning.
Thank God for Jesus!

Today, I want us to look at the theme of LOVE that runs through this entire story.

Look at the fact that the bible tells us God loved us even when we were sinners.
(Romans 5:81 John 4:9-10)
Look at the fact that the bible tells us God loved us first, before we could ever love Him.
(1 John 4:19)
Look at the fact that the bible tells us God loves us so much, and so He doesn’t have a desire for us to perish, but rather to have that everlasting life!
(John 3:16)

Just take in this Amazing Love of God!

I pray that Love –
will be Lifelong for you,
will Overflow in your life,
will bring you Victory over every situation,
and will Establish great things in your life, in Jesus’ Mighty name. Amen.

I’ll leave you with this verse, for you to reflect on the words and just try perceive how deep and real the love of God is, and in doing so, I pray that you will redevelop a greater understanding of how precious you are, how special you are, and how so truly and genuinely Loved By God, you are!

“knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”
[1 Peter 1:18-19]

Happy Easter… Make sure you share the Love.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.

Grace… Even though I don’t Deserve it

NOTE: This is a PFP – Personal Founder Post:
Untainted Word isn’t a personal blog, therefore I believe it’s appropriate for you to get a heads up if a post is going to be one of these ‘PFPs’.
Every now and then, certain topics will be easier and better explained with real life and personal examples.
Whilst they’re still inspired by God, they’ll most likely also contain details of specific things that occurred/happened to me as an individual, in order to give you a full picture, and better understanding of whatever the point it is.
This post is the first of its kind… I hope you enjoy 🙂

Now this is the thing about the Grace of God.

Nothing that you actually DO, can earn it, or remove it from your life.

When God has covered you with His Grace – that’s it, you’re covered.

(Sometime later, in another post, we’ll talk about not taking grace for granted, but today let’s talk about enjoying grace and understanding what it really is).

I’ll tell you something God taught me the other day…

Now, I launched Untainted Word on January 16th 2017.
I’ve been pretty consistent with ensuring posts go up every Sunday and Wednesday as I said they would.
However in the past week and a half – I’ve slacked…

I’ve allowed everything else to get in the way, e.g. exams, and other things, I haven’t organised myself well, and so I’ve been putting off posting and haven’t sat down to just listen to what God has to say, in order for me to write and share.

As if that isn’t enough, I was also LATE to church two Sundays in-a-row. And as a choir member and worship leader, this wasn’t good enough, especially as it meant that I couldn’t give my service to God as I ought to.

For me, I don’t like to disappoint God.
I mean, when you love someone, the last thing you want to do is disappoint them, or let them down, or neglect them.
I felt like I had done all of the above to God in the past week/ten days, and so my human mind went into a mode of thinking I would see the consequences of God’s disappointment, through misfortune and ‘No’s’ as the answers to my prayers.

Who else has ever done/felt like this?
Who else sometimes just anticipates the manifestation of negative things and awkward situations, because you know you haven’t been giving God your best recently?

I’m sure a lot of us sometimes believe that that’s the next step, and so we even get ready to accept a streak of bad, bad, bad, until we feel like we’ve gotten our act together and are back in right standing with God, where we then deserve the ‘good’.

Well bad, bad, bad, was nowhere near my portion.
In fact, in the midst of all my short-comings before God, I received a ‘Yes’ to at least three major prayers in my life and in the life of friends.

Someone say ‘GRACE’…

Grace is what enables God’s blessings to still manifest, even when you’re not necessarily doing the right thing or in the right place.

Grace is what allows you to still reach your God-ordained destination in life, despite you straying so far off the path beforehand.

Grace is what permits us to be saved, through the Love of God and the act of Jesus Christ, and therefore we can now have a relationship with God, draw closer to Him, and reign in heaven with Him after physical death.

Grace is the supernatural, courteous good will of God which focusses not on our sins, but simply on the Love He has for us – therefore bringing us back to a place of blessing, mercy, and positivity regardless of the circumstance.

Be it in your relationship with God, or even with your actions and decisions in life,
Grace doesn’t look at your works as a criteria to decide whether or not you receive it.

And that is what we should understand…
Grace wouldn’t be Grace, if we had to work for it;

“And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.
But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

[Romans 11:6]

So stop thinking it’s determined by you.
And stop thinking of all these ways that God will ‘deal with you’, because you haven’t given Him your best.

In one of the moments of receiving good news, despite my sincere gratitude, I felt so unworthy…

I said to God, “I don’t deserve this.”

But He replied,
“Even when you’re not giving Me your best, I still love and come through for you,
I just want you to love Me back and love Me more”.

God’s simple desire of a child who Loves Him is never-changing;

So he answered and said,
‘You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind,’…”
[Luke 10:27]

But sometimes we forget this, and our behaviour and actions don’t reflect someone who loves Him at all.
Therefore believe it or not, sometimes the Grace of God actually serves as a reminder of  the fact that He is faithful to His word in Romans 8:28, and so it encourages us to get back on track with Loving God, wholeheartedly; with our words, our service, our actions and our entire lives!
It encourages us to focus back on God and give Him our  B E S T.

As overwhelming as it may be to comprehend, God doesn’t withdraw His grace, favour, mercy, kindness, or hand of blessing from our lives when we’re in our mess and muck.

The truth is, God’s Grace goes far beyond our human imagination, therefore when we’re expecting a spiteful reaction to our failure before Him, He just shows us His consistency and faithfulness.
With God’s Grace, there’s no such thing as ‘too good to be true’,
And the concept of something negative needing to happen, in order to balance out all the positives you’ve been experiencing, is also a lie!

The Grace of God; Unmerited Favour of God, is  R E A L.

So let’s pray tonight and always, that our hearts will be able to accept and enjoy the Grace of God, and never question it.

Keep the Faith, Don’t stop Believing
God Bless you.

‘Nothing can catch You by Surprise’

‘He knows the end from the beginning…’

We’ve heard this being said quite a few times about God, right?

Well, it’s no lie.
Have a look for yourself at where this line is found in the bible;

Isaiah 46:10

“declaring the end from the beginning
    and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
    and I will accomplish all my purpose,’”
English Standard Version

“From the beginning I predicted the outcome;
    long ago I foretold what would happen.
I said that my plans would never fail,
    that I would do everything I intended to do.”
Good News Translation

“I tell from the beginning what will happen in the end.
And from times long ago I tell of things which have not been done, saying,
‘My Word will stand. And I will do all that pleases Me.’”
New Life Version

“Only I can tell you the future
    before it even happens.
Everything I plan will come to pass,
    for I do whatever I wish.”
New Living Translation

God tells us Himself of His own authority and ability – He knows what lies ahead of us, because He created the plan for it…

There’s a song called ‘Made a Way’, by a man named Travis Greene.
In that song, the title of today’s post is found;
He sings, ‘Nothing can catch You by Surprise’, and when he sings this, he’s singing it unto God.

Now how many of us truly believe that God is an All-knowing and Intentional God?

There isn’t a thing that happens to us that God doesn’t know about, neither is there a thing that He ‘accidentally missed out on’, or ‘let slip past Him’, about us, or the circumstances of our lives.

So in that case I guess, yes, we can all agree that He knows everything, but I want to draw our attention particularly to the fact that I also said He’s Intentional.
He has a  P U R P O S E  for everything that happens in our lives and so He is never ‘caught off guard’ or ‘taken aback’ – He is always aware of what’s going on…

As the author of our story, He already knows what happens in the next chapter, and the best thing about this isn’t only that He knows ‘the what’, but He also knows ‘the why’…

He knows why things need to happen to us,
He knows why we encounter people and issues,
And He surely knows how we’re going to evolve from it!

Therefore whatever stage we find ourselves at in life, what should we do?

Friend, Let us yield to the Will of God.
Let us make the active decision to say,
‘God have Your way,
Let Your will be done,
And let my story bring You glory.’

Having confidence in a God who perfectly wrote out your life before He even made you to live in it, you should trust Him and just enjoy the journey of fulfilling His purpose for you.

Though it can be daunting to consider the fact that God can do ABSOLUTELY whatever He wants with us, we can be comforted by the fact that He isn’t an abusive God, neither is He a bully (Jeremiah 29:11 says He has GOOD intentions for us).
So in entrusting Him with our lives, and living for Him, we can be confident that regardless of how deep and dark situations may get, He will always make a way, and we will surely see His perfect hand in everything.

Keep the Faith, Don’t Stop Believing
God Bless you.
